Luxury Desks & Home Office Furniture: Creating a Beautiful Workspace
A home office should be more than somewhere to answer emails. It should inspire ideas, help you focus and feel every bit as considered as the rest of your home.
Our home office collection brings together solid timber and sculptural desks, designer desk chairs, statement shelving, lighting and wall art, for interiors where looks matter as much as function. Whether you work from home full-time or just need a beautiful place to think, this guide will help you create a workspace that works beautifully.

Choosing a Desk
Start with how you work. Do you use a laptop or need room for monitors? Do you spread out paperwork? Would drawers help, or do you prefer a clear surface? The best desk fits your routine and your room.
Classic timber desks
- Bordeaux: inspired by classic English faux-bamboo furniture, in solid American oak with brass hardware, in Green, Navy or Ivory. It arrives fully assembled.
- Balmoral: traditional craftsmanship in solid European timber with solid brass hardware, in Cognac or Charcoal. It arrives fully assembled.
Statement desks
- Santorini: hand-carved, solid old-growth timber with a relaxed bohemian character, in Black or Mud Grey.
- Verona: solid oak with sculptural legs and a clean architectural silhouette, in Natural or Black.
A statement desk shines when the rest of the room is restrained: simple shelving, an elegant chair and one beautiful lamp.
Modern desks
- Milos: softly rounded edges, a streamlined profile and built-in drawers, in Black or Ivory. It arrives fully assembled.
- Miami Large: a clean, modern design in Black or White.
Desk Height, Depth and Ergonomics
What's the right desk height?
Standard desks are around 72 to 76cm high. Our designer desks range from 76cm (Bordeaux and Balmoral) to 78cm (Santorini), 80cm (Milos), 80.5cm (Verona) and 82cm (Miami). For comfortable typing, keep your shoulders relaxed, elbows close to your body and wrists straight. If a desk sits a little higher, raise your chair and add a footrest.
How deep should a desk be?
A 65 to 70cm depth suits laptop work. For a desktop monitor, 70 to 80cm gives you room to sit at a comfortable viewing distance. The Verona and Santorini are 80cm deep.
Measuring your room
Allow about 90cm behind the desk to pull out your chair and move around. Check for doorways, drawers and nearby furniture. If the desk will face into the room, make sure it looks good from every side.
Choosing a Desk Chair
- Noosa Rattan: a woven rattan back on a timber frame with an upholstered seat, 360° swivel, adjustable seat height and castors. The Noosa Rattan Desk Chair is perfect for coastal and transitional studies.
- Positano: the Positano Desk Chair has a padded seat and back in charcoal and natural fabric, with a sleek contemporary look.
- Avalon: the Avalon Faux Leather Desk Chair is a high-back executive chair with armrests, in tobacco PVC-free faux leather.
What makes an office chair comfortable?
- A seat height that suits your desk, with feet flat on the floor.
- Good back support and a comfortable seat depth and width.
- Armrests at the right height, if fitted.
- Adjustability for your body and the room to change posture.
A decorative chair is lovely for occasional work, but for long days at a computer, prioritise support and adjustment.
Home Office Storage
- Heston Shelving Unit: the brass frame with 8mm tempered glass shelves (100 × 35 × 200cm) adds glamour.
- Tudor Shelving Unit: warm walnut-finish timber, as the 2-tier (160 × 35 × 100cm) or the taller 4-tier (140 × 35 × 160cm).
- Desks with drawers: the Milos has built-in drawers for stationery and paperwork, so you won't need a separate cabinet.
Style shelves with a few books, storage boxes and sculptural objects, and leave some space empty. Plan where cables will run before you place the desk, and use a cable tray to keep things tidy.
Home Office Lighting
- Desk lamps: focused task light for reading and writing. The Hamlin Desk Lamp adds a refined brass finish. Position it to avoid glare on your screen.
- Floor lamps: a softer layer of light. Choose the Munich Marble, Essex Marble, Ariz Marble or Montrose in Black or Brass. Place one beside an armchair to create a reading corner.
- Natural light: place your desk side-on to a window to enjoy daylight without screen glare.

Styling a Luxury Home Office
- Start with the desk: a coloured Bordeaux suits a classic study with brass lighting, while a natural Verona suits a calm, contemporary room.
- Add texture: combine timber, upholstery, metal and woven materials.
- Add wall art: give the room personality with pieces like the Lanvin Black and White, Toujour, Valli or Rue De Luxe. Explore our Art Studio.
- Mind your video background: a styled shelf or artwork behind you looks professional. Avoid sitting with a bright window directly behind you.
- Finish with a rug: a designer rug defines the workspace. If your chair has castors, choose a low pile.
Which style suits my office?
- Classic executive: the Bordeaux or Balmoral, with tailored seating and brass lighting.
- Contemporary luxury: the Verona, Milos or Miami, with restrained colours and sculptural pieces.
- Coastal: natural timber with the Noosa Rattan chair, linen and soft neutrals. See our Hamptons style furniture.
- Hollywood Regency: a coloured desk, the brass Heston shelving and sculptural lighting. See our Hollywood Regency furniture.
- Minimalist: a streamlined desk, concealed storage and one beautiful lamp.
Small Spaces and Executive Offices
A home office in a small space
A beautiful workspace can fit in a bedroom, living room or corner. Choose a desk that gives you the surface you need without blocking movement, use tall shelving to make the most of wall height, and pick a desk that looks like furniture rather than a workstation.
An executive home office
In a larger room, float the desk facing into the room so it becomes the centrepiece and welcomes visitors. Add an armchair for reading or meetings, and a statement shelving unit for storage and character.
